George Carlin

Whoaa! Wait a minute, what has comedy genius George Carlin got to do with
home-based business?

Give me a couple of minutes...

George Carlin passed away after a heart attack last sunday.

Carlin's style and unique gift as a comic made him my all-time favorite.

His appearances on TV shows such as Larry King Live and Bill Maher's
Real Time always made me appreciate this one of a kind "real" human
being who never took himself seriously.

His books always made me laugh out loud (he wrote three). No other author
has had that effect on me.

So, what does George Carlin's special gift of laughter has to do with running
your own business?

He told the truth about a lot of things that some people didn't want to see.

He took his own path and expressed his ideas freely.

He didn't care about pleasing the masses or fitting in...

That's what made him special.

There was nobody like him. Period.

He was one of a kind...

Thanks George!

Social Media Sites Losing Their Focus.

Many social media sites are losing their focus. Recent trends to allow any widgets under the sun to extract data for monetizing their user base bodes nothing good for us clients.

Again, the short term view of some managers are beginning to look more and more like
opportunists just waiting to make a quick buck at the expense of users.

No doubt that this doesn't look good for our personal information. My guess is that greed
will kill a few of the social media sites for their loss of focus.

Instead of looking to make more profits why don't they put more features? Look at
Apple's MobileMe and the iPhone 3G. Now that is one big step in the right direction.

Higher Gas Prices Got You Down?

With the price of gas hitting a new record every week, more and more people are
dreading the long commute to work every morning. If the traffic slows to a crawl, is
there any point in keeping a job far from home when the fuel bill eats up all your savings?

Maybe it's time to re-assess that job.

- Do yo really enjoy where you work?

- Can you work more hours from home so that you only have to drive to work
two or three days a week?

- Carpooling or taking the bus a couple of times a week if that is possible.

If all those questions are beginning to show you how crappy your current job is,
naybe it's time to take a second look at jobs close to home, or...

Or maybe you need to start looking at full time employment from home.
You can slowly work your way out of your predicament by learning at your
own pace and ease the transition to a full-time work from home.

Make a list of all your hobbies and interests. Don't forget to list your job skills.

Now you have something to research on the internet and check out what is being
researched. Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
and check out the volume of searches being done every month for your keywords.

Work on your strategy right now. So that when you find out that you are only working
for the oil companies, you have a way out.
