Online Commerce To Take Off in 2007

Many interesting statistics about online commerce were published by Comscore networks.

2006 was a banner year as far as online commerce is concerned; more than 100 billion dollars
were spent online. That is a 24% increase over 2005.

More and more people are purchasing online and that trend is expected to continue in 2007.
It should increase by 20% this year.

Consumers are more confident about buying online than ever before. Sales of jewelry, clothes and home furnishings has been making huge improvement over the last year. It seems that video guides have been helping that trend.

Online shopping has increased by 31% during the Holiday season. Last minute shopping has
been helped by the fact that stores promise to deliver on time for Christmas.

Buying videos and music online is becoming the main source now for media purchases wich could help online sales to account for 10% of total sales in the US.

There's never been a better time to jump in the game and build your store front on the net.

You can check out dropshippers to start your own store without having to keep an inventory.

Book review: Randy Gage's Why You're Dumb, Sick And Broke...

Randy Gage is a well known author and entrepreneur.

He's been called the "Jedi knight of prosperity". A former high school dropout, he rose from
poverty and became a restauranteur. He eventually amassed a fortune by becoming a star
marketer and has helped millions of people achieve financial success through his books and
programs such as the prosperity mind, the seven laws of prosperity, accept your abundance
or how to build a multi-level money machine.

In his latest book, why you're dumb, sick and broke...and how to get smart, healthy and rich,
Randy takes on the mainstream media, religion, the pope and government and how they are trying to keep you dumb and poor by imprinting in our mind that rich people are evil and that it is spititual to be poor. I must say he makes a strong case by giving many examples, like the way rich people are portrayed in the movie Titanic.

Another very interesting chapter is on victimhood. In a style all his own he reveals how being a
victim is the number one excuse to stay dumb. He gives excellent advice on overcoming that
destructive behavior and start taking action in your life.

He then reveals why it is spiritual to be rich. That true prosperity is limitless and that we
are born to be healthy, happy and rich. His chapter on creating a prosperity mind-set his very
powerful.

Another excellent chapter is on three business models he really believes in;
- Real estate
- Information entrepreneur
- MLM or network marketing

In his last few chapters, he challenges our beliefs when he explains his philosophy for a prosperous life.

All in all this is a great book that I highly recommend. Randy's engaging and well rounded
approach to every aspects of becoming successful and rich is invaluable.

We need more people like Randy to shake us out of the doldrums and how wonderful life
can be.

Working From Anywhere...almost

As you may have noticed, this blog has been kind of quiet over the last few days.

Family obligations have made it almost impossible for me to work since I have
to be far from my home.

But running your home-based business from almost anywhere now is becoming
much easier.

With the advent of wireless (wi-fi) hotspots at almost every cafe in any big city
(just check www.wi-fihotspotlist.com), you can sip your coffee while attending
to your home business.

That is what is so wonderful about an online home business; you can work from
anywhere and still use valuable time to do work when you are waiting for someone
for example.

There are so many ways to do business online now. You can chose any way that
suits you.

I like the one where you don't have to make phone calls selling or keep an
inventory. Anything that makes it easy for me is of real value.

Like direct marketing for example.

If you want to learn all about aspects of online marketing I strongly suggest you check
this one out...

Oh no! It's a disaster...

3 days ago I suffered a disk crash while working to get a RSS feed to my blog.

I make an habit of copying the important stuff to another computer I use regularly.
Of course. But still it's a pain to restore and install all the software you need.

While you can use Symantec Ghost to make an image of your Windows partition,
I am always tweaking and installing software on my computer so it would make
sense to buy an external USB disk so that I can copy my Windows partition.

You can have a 160GB external disk for about $100 wich is plenty for most.
It's a good idea to take a backup every week.

I was using Nero backup on DVDs wich is the cheapest way to go. But when you have more
than 60 GB of data like I do, it takes 12 DVDs to backup everything. You better not be in hurry.

So I lost a full day just to restore to my new disk. And then re-install all the utilities or
software I installed in the last few weeks because during the Holidays I didn't take any backups.

One other solution would be to use a mirrored disk. A mirrored disk (or RAID-1) is using two
disks for the same partition. You can have a software mirror, Windows XP handles this, or if you are lucky enough, your motherboard handles this. So, if one disk crashes, you can boot from the other disk and keep working. With the price of hard drives falling every
year, this is the optimal solution for keeping your home business humming and not lose
precious time restoring tons of data.
