How I Drive Traffic To My Web Site
How can I drive traffic to my web site
efficiently? There are many ways I can
do that. The methods I present here
are just a start.
How well you define your targeted
audience and what words
they use is important
to drive traffic to my web site.
In other words, I want to find the keywords
they are typing in the search engines for
finding my web site.
For example, Let's say I have a lawn care web site.
I can use any of these keyword tools
inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
freekeywords.wordtracker.com
I would type in 'lawn care' to see what
words are used
for lawn care advice
to drive traffic to my web site.
Now, I would note only the keyword phrases
that relate only to what my web site information offers.
For example, if I don't have any tips on
organic lawn care, I wouldn't take note any
keyword phrases that include the word 'organic'.
The long phrases like 'tips for lawn care advice' are
very targeted. That is going to be useful for
pay-per-click (or PPC) advertising to
drive traffic to my web site.
PPC ads are displayed on the search engines
results pages. You see them on the right side of any
result page. Each time you click on an ad, the
web site owner who placed that ad pays the search engine
anywhere from 1 cent to tens of dollars depending on the
popularity of the keywords.
Google has 'adwords' (adwords.google.com)
YAHOO! has 'searchmarketing'(searchmarketing.yahoo.com)
MSN has 'adcenter' (adcenter.microsoft.com)
PPC is the fastest way to drive traffic to my web site.
I can write an ad in 'adwords' and have it displayed
in a couple of hours. Of course, it depends on the
popularity of the keywords I chose to
drive traffic to my web site. To find out,
use the keyword popularity tool
on the sites I just gave you.
But be careful. These PPC campaigns are not
'set it and forget it'.
First, I make sure I put a limit
amount for daily budget (I usually put $10 dollars at first).
Second, I monitor the performance of my ads to see
which ones are getting clicked. I always have at least
two concurrent ads being displayed for each group.
That way I can make changes to beat my best performing ads to
get more clicks to drive traffic to my web site.
This is a very fast way to drive traffic to my web site in a very short time.
